They stood near the riverwalk where the city lights blurred into molten gold on the water. The air held the dry, electric taste of heat and expectation; people moved around them like currents that might at any moment sweep them apart. Y/N felt strangely steady, like a hand had closed around the back of her ribcage and kept her from drifting.
Jungkook’s presence arrived before his voice. He carried calm, intentional, quiet and a smile that hovered close to mischievous. He stepped nearer until the space between them was charged but still respectful, an invisible line they were both testing.
“You okay?” he asked, voice low enough that only she could hear. The question was ordinary, but the way he searched her face made it intimate.
She nodded, words folding into the pause. “I am now.”
He brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear with a tenderness that contradicted the heat simmering under his shirt. It was a small touch, but it sent a ripple through her, proof that closeness could be gentle and deliberate. Around them, the city throbbed on; here, time narrowed to the steady of his fingers and the quickness of her pulse.
Jungkook looked at her like he was memorizing angles and edges: the faint freckle near her jaw, the way she bit her lower lip when she thought he couldn’t see. “If you don’t want this..any of it…you say the word,” he said. He sounded casual, but there was steel beneath it: consent as shelter.
