They met at dusk on the edge of the old woods, where the trees kept secrets and the path folded back on itself like a held breath. The air smelled of crushed fern and distant rain. Y/N's pulse thrummed louder than the twilight cicadas; she’d agreed to this partly because she trusted him and partly because she wanted the thrill—an actor in their private play.
Jungkook stood a little way into the shadow, silhouette soft against the dim. He wore a simple white mask that hid his face but not the intent in his posture: shoulders relaxed, hands visible and empty, the stance of someone invited into delicate mischief. The mask gave him a strange, otherworldly stillness—both more distant and more focused.
“You ready?” he called, voice muffled but unmistakably his. There was humor braided with something darker, and it made her heartbeat quicken.
She swallowed and nodded. “Do your worst, ghost.” Her voice trembled a little, but she smiled; this was a game, and games had rules.
He moved like a shadow that knew the forest—quiet, deliberate. He didn’t lunge; he traced the path, brushing past trunks and letting leaves whisper in his wake. Sometimes he’d stop and watch from between two silver birches, the mask catching the last light like a pale moon. Y/N followed at a safe distance, the crunch of her boots loud in her ears, a tether between fear and exhilaration.
